A typical season for the Cascade Singers will include a short program in mid-September celebrating "Historic The Dalles Days", a complete program in mid-December of Holiday Music, and annual choral celebration of St. Patrick's Day on March 17, and a complete program in the spring.

The following is a taste of some, but not all, of the selections from the most recent programs:

Songs of War, Reconciliation and Peace

May 2009 Program

The Closed Town - Robert Convery

From the cantata "Songs of Children", this song is based on poems written by the children interned at Terezin Concentration Camp. The composer selected the lyrics from the poems for the cantata in memory of all the children who perished in the Holocaust. The cantata was performed in NYC in April, 1991.

Hope for Resolution - arr. P. Caldwell and S. Ivory

In its juxtaposition of a European chant melody and an anti-apartheid song from South Africa, this piece is a celebration of diversity. The song reflects our respect for diverse musical styles and points us toward our innate (though sometimes neglected) potential for peaceful coexistence.

Reflections of Peace - Joseph M. Martin

Joining two beloved hymns in a prayer that is as timely as it is beautiful, the composer has written an anthem of hope that offers assurance and comfort. Beginning with "Dona Nobis Pacem", then the interweave if two hymns, the song is a choral prayer that is diverse and appealing.
