The Cascade Singers of The Dalles, Oregon, presented their first concert in spring, 1976. Members are auditioned adult singers from The Dalles and neighboring communities in the mid-Columbia area. The group is a voluntary, self-administered and self-financed organization that meets twice a week to enjoy choral music and to prepare public performances. Weekly rehearsals are Monday, 7:00-9:00 p.m., and Thursday, 7:00-8:00 p.m., held in the Choir Room of The Dalles Wahtonka High School, 220 East Tenth St., The Dalles, OR.

Audition Process

  • You will be asked to sing "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" in several keys. You may also sing a prepared piece of your choosing.
  • You will sing several vocalisms to demonstrate your vocal range.
  • Pitch acuity will be demonstrated by echoing random piano patterns.
  • Sight-reading skills will be demonstrated by singing a series of graded melodies in various keys and time signatures.
  • Vocal/tonal independence will be demonstrated by singing familiar rounds and canons with the Cascade Singers Director.
  • Previous choral experience is not a requirement, but will be favorably received.
